When a case is worked on by a regional user all their actions default to private (showing the closed padlock icon). This means there is certainly no need to mark cases as “private” which is a function intended to cover situations of high sensitivity or conflict of interest.

Regional users’ work is thus private from the branch, who cannot even see there is an entry, but by clicking the padlock and confirming the region  can make selected items public to the branch if that will aid communication. This action is logged on the case.

A CaseWeb branch can see the case after it is referred, and have access to the public notes and details and so be aware of the general progress of the case.. They can also add to the case and when they do so the allocated regional user is notified at the top of their screen that the case has been updated.

This process allows the branch to still see what is happening to cases they refer, but keeps all regional actions and content private unless the regional users decide other wise.
